Santa Cruz  Kids in Nature

Summer Camps

WEEK 5  :  JULY 6-10

Theme 1:  Wild-Crafters: Art of Field Journaling, Clay, Weaving, and Jewelry Making In The Forest

In this camp, children will learn a wide range of nature-based crafts through hands-on exploration and playful experimentation. Campers will work with natural dyes, clay, yarn, and plant-made paints, learning real techniques while letting their creativity lead the way. Alongside crafting, there will be lots of time for outdoor play and discovery. We’ll create together in a shady outdoor workspace, and children will take home all of their finished projects.

A materials fee $20.00 makes this camp total $490

Theme 2: Intertidal Investigators: Learning About The Magic of Our Tidepools And The Creatures Who Live There (NEW!)

In this immersive coastal camp, children spend five days learning from the extraordinary world between land and sea and all of the adaptations needed to survive there. Each day follows the rhythm of the tides as we step into one “floor” of the intertidal tower—high, middle, and low—meeting the creatures who call each place home.

Campers practice the art of noticing: sketching barnacle cities, watching anemones breathe, tracking snail trails, and testing the water that gathers in rock basins. From creature close-up drawings to group science experiments, children come away with both scientific knowledge and a sense of belonging within the natural world.

We end the week fitting all the pieces together—how zones connect, how animals depend on one another, and how we can help protect this fragile ecosystem.
